Our experienced and dedicated educators are fully qualified Early Childhood professionals who share our inspiration and philosophy.
Our Inspiration
Throughout history, philosophers, politicians, educators and many others have been concerned with the art and science of astute thinking. The Thinking Box @ Tanglin, was inspired by the great thinkers of our world and their unique thought processes.
The ability to engage in careful, reflective thought is a fundamental characteristic of an educated person and a responsible citizen. It is the spirit of inquiry and dialogue that inspired The Thinking Box’s philosophy. We believe that thinking is a tool, and it is something that can be sharpened, especially in open young minds.
Our Philosophy
We believe that children are entitled to experiences that contribute to their positive overall growth. Such experiences should come from a program that is inclusive, anti-biased, and encompasses children of all cultures, religions and ethnic backgrounds, and a variety of family situations.
We believe that each child is eager to learn and adapt and that we should utilize this adaptability to inculcate the habit of critical thinking in young minds.
Our teachers are committed to providing an environment that
- fosters the ‘thinking” mindset,
- nurtures and supports the whole child,
- encourages each child’s self-esteem, and
- develops appreciation of each child’s uniqueness and pride in their individuality and cultural background.
Our Objectives
The objectives of The Thinking Box @ Tanglin are:
- To encourage each child’s creativity and curiosity through exposure to and experiences in a variety of artistic forms and thinking styles
- To encourage each child’s intellectual giftedness though exposure to a variety of stimulating and enriching activities and materials
- To encourage self-help skills and work towards self-discipline
- To encourage self-esteem and respect for self and others
- To foster positive relationships with and empathy for others
- To encourage independent thinking skills
- To foster lateral and critical thinking skills
These goals find expression through a child-centered approach that allows all children the freedom to explore and discover, research and evaluate in a safe, secure and supported environment |
